Since we are talking Birthdays

Kid Sister and her epic b-day cake, pictured above.

I would like to discuss cakes a little. Not just because I love cake. But because that’s the one thing I always leave up to someone else each year. Someone from Cinespace or Melissa usually goes and buys me one of those cheap cakes from Ralph’s. Then someone writes my name on it. Then I act surprised I even have a cake. people sing blah blah boring. I think cakes aren’t getting the attention they deserve, in the birthday planning experience. Cakes are the new DJ. Djs are the new streamers. I want to be the new Kid Sister. You get the point.

Sarah Morrison’s 3rd Annual Super Sweet 16!

August 22nd, 2008 by Sarah Morrison

I used to work at a club in LA. I used to throw parties. I used to go to parties. Like alot of them. I know this baffles my East Coast friends. When asked to describe me socially they would probably say “Sarah doesn’t like to go places with a lot of people, places that aren’t off the L, often she refuses to leave Brooklyn, and she doesn’t seem to comprehend why one would go somewhere drinks cost money.” They might add, “She really likes TV.”

Every year I have a giant birthday party. Every year being for the past three years. I have no memory of my life before 2005, like most people. My party is always in LA. My party is always at Cinespace. I was sort of annoyed it was already almost September. I was really annoyed, I was going to have to figure out when I would have time to do this.

While being annoyingly indecisive between the final two dates, I suggested not having a party at all and staying this age for one more year. This party is so much fun. But for some reason that isn’t motivating me. Am I old and boring? Am I watching too much TV and being lazy? What should I do?
