I tend to let people walk all over me. Like the time when on New Years my jerk-off ex-BF smooched my plastered friend instead of me (I still talk to them both) or my “friend” that gave me a bowl haircut because she thought it would be a funny joke (It wasn’t. I cried for, like, a month). So that’s why when I found The Spite Site, I was so excited coffee shot right out my nose.
Remember when Lacey and Dallas got in that “fight” on Rock of Love Season 1? It wasn’t really a fight. It was basically Lacey following Dallas around, getting in her face, saying nasty things, trying to get a reaction out of Dallas. Well, that happened to me Saturday night. I was waiting to use the bathroom behind the DJ booth. I was next in line. The girl that becomes the Lacey of the story is sitting on a couch a foot away. The bathroom door opens, I am set to go in. Suddenly some drunk dude jumps at me and into the bathroom, slamming the door in my face. The almost empty drink (maybe an inch of liquid tops) in my hand was knocked onto the sitting girl’s leg. I apologized to no end. She had seen the dude knock it over. But was not having my apology, at all. She gets up and asks my name. I tell her. She then asks for a sip of the beer one of my friends had handed me in replacement of said spilled drink. I oblige. I am approaching my ten year high school reunion. Yes, I was born in 1963. I refuse to go. I also refused to attend my 5 year high school reunion. Why? I was a loser in high school. Ok I was really cool in high school. People just failed to realize that fact. That’s not entirely true either. Basically, I was really cool and awesome, but was not a cheerleader or a slut. Abercrombie clad girls threw things at me in the hallway. They whispered as I walked by. They yelled obscenities at me. You know. I am sure a lot of you were there; there in your own hallway. Last night, I heard a familiar snap snap snap of hangers hitting each other at an alarming rate. My arms erupted in goose bumps….I knew it was her before I turned around. It was my ex-best friend…flicking through vintage clothing racks, side by side, as we had for 8 years of friendship. Only this time, it had been nearly 2 years since we’ve talked. And because it was her decision to end our friendship, I couldn’t really say anything. I tiptoed away as her arms flew across a row of dresses. What do you do when good friends go bad? I guess girls break-up all the time and just cut each other out of their lives, but I’ve NEVER stopped talking to a friend because they did something hurtful. And this girl terrorized me on and off for years.

I tried to read the book in college and couldn’t. Middle school still felt like yesterday. Last night, I watched the Lifetime movie version of the book. I watched the whole thing. It wasn’t easy. The first time I saw the commercial for VH1’s Miss Rap Supreme, my jaw dropped. Yup, Khia is a contestant on the show. I find the whole thing reminiscent of when that dude from Best Week Ever auditioned for Last Comic Standing. It’s like having your Geometry teacher in your Algebra class or like showing Lohan how to do lines or something.
Whatever. I hope she keeps herself covered up.
