Purple Passion

December 3rd, 2008 by Moth

Lesley might be obsessed with yellow nail polish, but I’m sticking to purple. I made the massive jump away from Bermuda Shorts to Sexy Divide for winter. What do you folks think? (It’s hard to tell here, but Sexy Divide is sparkly — like Blue Satin but purple.) Brooke’s wearing it too!

Blinding New Essie Colors

June 3rd, 2008 by Moth

Sam just told me that Dante’s neon purple was discontinued! (Thank goodness that I have a bottle still left in my apartment.) I wanted to mention that on the Essie site, they’re pushing a new neon collection with a very similar purple called Bermuda Shorts. Has anyone seen this yet in their salon? It’s almost too good to be true because Essie has great quality.

I’m also curious as to what people think about Chanel’s Robertson Blvd. collection which is almost exactly the same. I posted it a couple months ago, before the collection went on sale. Has anyone tried it yet? It looks a little too matte to me, so I think the Essie might be the winner. It’s hard to tell on your computer screen though. I like my summer colors bright bright bright!!! (See the Robertson collection after the jump.)

Gold Fiction

April 25th, 2008 by Moth

So…I totally love Chanel nail polish. I dutifully toted my Blue Satin to the nail salon all winter, and mailed it to all my besties on their birthdays. But as much as I love and identify with Flamingos, I think I’m going to skip the pretty pink and go straight to their fall color, Gold Fiction. So…it’s gold. But not icky shiny foil gold…more like a smoky library gold. At $30, it’s a hefty jump from Blue Satin’s $19 price tag, but apparently their new creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, thinks you’re worth it. Something to do with high-end pigments? Whatever. Does OPI have a look alike color yet?
