ASK MISSBEHAVE

August 6th, 2008 by admin

Dear Missbehave, Early Monday evening, my boyfriend and I went to a concert and I parked my car on a street about four blocks from the venue. (There was no where else to park since the venue’s parking lot was full and the other lot normally costs 5.00 to park in it but the guy who runs it is super shady and tends to overcharge you based on how good looking/slutty you are. I.e. sexy girls = pay nothing, fug kids = like ten bucks.) So anyway, about four hours later, at midnight, we went to get in my car, but wait…where was my car? It was stolen!!! Apparently it is very easy to steal Jeep Cherokees, which is what I drive. We filed a police report and the officer told us it was probably just some kids who wanted to take it for joyriding since he said people don’t really steal Jeeps for their parts. Especially older ones (mine was a ‘99). But the police put it in their system as stolen and told me to just wait a few weeks and it would probably just turn up abandoned in a parking lot or something. But I don’t want to wait for some lazy ass police officer to just happen upon my car on his way to fucking Dunkin Donuts or something. Atlanta police have a history of being useless pricks anyway. Is there anything more aggressive I can do to try to find my car and get it back? It holds a lot of personal value to me, not to mention it was completely paid off and I cannot afford to start trying to pay for another car right now. Plus I need that car because I’m moving to CA in about four weeks and I have to drive there. Ay, Missbehave girls are so clever, I’m sure someone can help me!

How long does it take for insurance to come through? Can you get a new car with your insurance pay off? Assuming you had insurance? I have no idea what else there is to do, unless you want to walk all over town looking for it?

what name does your jeep answer to? maybe if you walked around calling for it, it will come to you.

if the insurance thing isn’t an option I would go totally fucking ballistic balls to the wall crazy about finding it. straight up like…posting myspace bulletins and putting up fliers every 2 inches all over your town.

    GOOD LUCK

Woah, crazy, this is Erika’s! I think it’s all good now, she got her car back really recently.

Thanks Sarah! And all you guys for caring, but yeah I just got my car back a few days ago. Of course, now I have to wait for it to get fixed up in the garage (they broke my side window and my trunk door), and @Olivia: yeah I have insurance, and they’re paying for the repairs, and thank god, because no, I couldn’t afford a new car with what they were going to give me!
But everyone who has a Chrysler car of any kind should definitely get some sort of alarm/security put on it immediately because it turns out they’re the easiest cars to steal! I totez did the research!

agghhh so glad you got it back!

  9. Olivia Says:

oh yay! sooo glad you got your car back! i used to have a jeep grand cherokee too and everyone told me it would get stolen!

Holy Crap, Erika! Same car, same city. My brother’s Jeep Cherokee got stolen last year or so, out of the Wing Factory Parking lot. It was taken for a joyride and found near the Braves Stadium with a bunch of empty liquor bottles and the cheaper part of his stereo stolen.
    Weird…

  11. Rue Says:

    Also, was it Chastain Park?
It never has parking, but I live within walking distance so I’m lucky.

  12. erika Says:

@Rue: No, it was Inman Park, but there’s so much fucking crime in Atlanta that I’m not even surprised! I’m glad he got it back though…I had no idea thefts happened in Chastain!!!
