Throwback

July 9th, 2008 by Rika

I’m back from a long weekend trip from Michigan where we visited my BF’s family. Watched the fireworks , rode the pontoon boats and swam in the lake, visited the eerie desolate city of Detroit, and ate some coney dogs. It’s just nice to get away from the hustle and bussle of cramped up NYC.

Since vintage is expensive in New York, I love checking out the vintage and salvation army stores when I am in other states. Pat took me to this weird thrift mall where little stores set shops in and outside of the building. We joked around about finding an Aaliyah tee. There were many vintage items, from records to lawn mowers but we came upon this awesome booth of airbrushed items galore and there it was…airbrushed Aaliyah to the fullest!

I asked the lady at the booth if I could take some photos of her work and got the greenlight so I’d like to share with yall. It’s that good. She even gave me a card and told me to check her site out! You just cannot find this sorta stuff here in NYC anymore. Thanks Queen Bee for keeping the art of airbrushing alive!!
