Memorieeeeesssss…

I haven’t been back to my room from the house where I grew up in almost two years. I know it’s silly, but what reminded me of this fact, was the VH1 show that I was just watching on TV called “100 best songs from the 90’s”. The number one song was “Smell Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana (obvi) and watching the video made me think about my teen obsession with Kurt Cobain. Back then, I used to think he was the most perfect man (in every sense of the word) to ever walk the planet. It was like a major, MAJOR crush of mine. I didn’t even mind that he was dead, that’s how much I liked him. Anyway, around the time I was 13/14 years old I threw away all the uber girly crap that I had in my room and got new posters. The ones that I remember having on my wall from then on where the following:

This exact same picture.
For some reason I used to think Pulp Fiction was so ground-breaking and amazing? I used to bs people explaining what I thought this a lot. Gawwd, If I could go back in time I’d totally kick my own ass.
I had this on vinyl so used the case as some sort of poster.
I used to love Natural Born Killers too. I even dressed up as Mallory Knox for Halloween once.
I was also pretty obsessi with Bikini Kill and Hole. I know, I’m being more cliche than Juno’s script here. Sorreeee.
Not really a poster but my ex bf gave me this documentary called Live.Tonight. Sold Out. and this part cracked me up every single time. Not to long ago, I found out that KC was actually making fun of Morrissey by singing with that deep voice, which makes it 193298329839283x more hilarious.
Do you guys have any similar stories? Which were your teenage posters/obsessions? Let me know… No, really. Let me.

hehe-such a good call, the juno cliche line
i had a vomity montage of leo dicaprio poster. slightly frayed on edges. ew
Well my mom didn’t let me put things up on the wall in our apartment, but I had a lot of pictures of models and adverts from magazines. I was/am sorta obsessed with vinyl. I had Jimmy Hendrix’s Are You Experienced? and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and then English Beat album. I also had a lot of Spice Girls paraphernalia…ie Spice World, the dolls, the shirt. Spice Girls rule!
i also had leo dicaprio up on my walls, but mostly my room was filled with the spice girl obsession, form taped interviews, magazine convers, to fan postcards. I remember framing a REALLY BIG poster, cause i actually belived it was autographed by each by the spice girls
horrible typing….its too late
I was a fan of Leo when he was on Growing Pains. I used to write him letters. Serious.
emilia, i think we had the same the same room. I had a subcription to Rolling Stone at the time and would put up all the covers of bands i liked. I would also keep all the Lollapalooza guides from the times i went, and would put up all my concert tickets. i’m happy i kept all of those, i’ll show them to my kids or nieces one day and they won’t give a shit, but deep down i’ll know i’m rad.
who else keeps shit to show their future kids?
Emilia, your old room seems awesome, with all the posters I wish I had.
I was heavy into the 60’s and 70’s and had a Janis Joplin poster, a lot of psychedelic shit, Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin, and a sweetass Bob Marley poster that a friend made for me out of like, 1000 pictures he collected. I wish I still had it.
The only guy-crush poster I had was of John Malkovich. I had serious man issues when I was in high school and only liked the weird-ass ones who bordered on psychopath. But I never dated any. Wellll…maybe one.
I totes had the Pulp Fiction one. I even got it framed!!!
now that i think about it, i think i might have had a touch of the downs at birth. my high school bedroom featured these huge faucets that i drew and cut out splurting out rainbows all over my walls. also, starburst coloured bombs exploding on my ceiling. my mom took down my slits poster and replaced it with a poster featuring a single reflected raindrop bearing a message about Attitude. now everytime i see a Successories poster it makes me want to runaway and dry hump somebody i just met.
polaroids…yes polaroid pictures of my friends by themselves/with people/posing/vacation thingers with family and my scribbly writing at the bottom splainin’ the picture.
I love Pulp Fiction!
Spice Girls was my life for awhile. I had the tshirts, the dolls, I think I even had the shoes for a short while. I wanted to be British. I still do, sort of.
i used to have an obsession with diddy. yes the “uh huh uh huh don’t stop don’t stop” puff daddy. i would buy word up mags and tear out every pic and cover my room. it looked like i had rapper wall paper. i also had a thing for method man. =)
The outside of my door was the tribute to my music taste and was plastered with Pearl Jam Stickers. Once my dad was going to repaint the doors in our house, which included peeling off my stickers. I took the dor off the hinges and hid it, claiming I was going to hold it hostage until my dad signed a contract stating he would buy me two tickets to pj the next time they were in/ near Seattle, which he signed. It worked… I kept the contract for like three years and he bought me tix last time they played the Gorge
i wrote JTT’s fan club, he never wrote back. and um can you say Backstreet Boys? yeah that was my walls.
