Today’s Poll
June 11th, 2008 by Rika
My birthday is coming up. All of a sudden I am turning 30 this year. I swear I was like 23 5 minutes ago. I really don’t know what happened but my 20s literally flew by. I learned a lot and I matured a lot for sure. In midst of working and partying hardy, I crammed in 4 serious relationships. I worked at several fortune 500 companies doing graphic design even tho I was rolling in there with my jeans and Jordans 3 all hung over most of the time. I know I can look back and say I lived my 20s to the fullest and I am definitely ready for my 30s (which is the new 20s anyways pshh). Just couple years ago, I stopped catching tags on the streets thinking I was uber awesome. Just a little while back, I stopped rocking Nike sneakers. Now I am thinking its officially that time for me to let go of my Sidekick 3 phone and get a more age appropriate phone. Here comes my question for you ladies…Should I now get a Blackberry or an Iphone??? I know that blackberry is good for emailing (business wise and I do email a lot doing sales). I know Iphone gives you more web browsing opportunities but I also heard the touch screen is hard to get used to. I have T-mobile but I do not mind switching to AT&T..They both look good but both offer different charms. Ugh…so I need advices! What do you all have and which one do you like?

I’m turning 23 in a week. I got my sidekick as a test, prior to it I only owned standard ‘comes with the plan’ phones. i broke them, lost them, they fell out of my back pocket into toilets, left in cabs, and ran over by cars. basically i didnt give a shit about them, i figured if i bought a phone that cost a little more and had a lot more going on- i’d value it more and ultimately grow up a little. i did. same phone for a year, longest running. [woo!] i’m ready for a big girl phone. the blackberry curve. no iphone for me. i can’t see the screen in the sun, and girls with their nails did [me] have issues with touch screen key pad. the only thing i use web browsing for on my sk is to google something. blackberry all the way.
You should probably get a Blackberry. I have the Curve and it’s perfect, because it has everything. And you can probably do things faster and easier because, well, I don’t even understand how you text on a touch screen phone. Blackberrys are more mature anyway. Like, eveyer 17 year old with a job at the mall has an iPhone. Team Blackberry!
Nah, get an i-phone causs iz sexy! haha, but seroiusly they just came out with a newer version of of it with faster internet and a knocked down price of $199 Trust me once you get used to it typing is so much faster. check out http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/apple-iphone-3g-16gb/4505-6452_7-33064512.html?tag=prod.txt.2 to get more info. (yeah i’m a nerd when it comes to phones don’t judge me)
I have a blackberry, but my friend has an iphone and I was WAY jealous because it shows on the map where your location is and it helped a lot with directions when we gots losted.
i say blackberry
def not sidekick. i phone maybe…….
Due to the fact that I live in Canada and we still do not have Iphones available (issues with our oligopolist service providers not wanted to open up data plans) I have always been a blackberry girl. I can’t provide a proper comparison though. Since blackberry originated in Canada, the dude who owns RIM is outrageously loaded and mysterious. He’s building a mystery mansion an hour north of year, and nobody involved is allowed to talk about it. So were going to attempt to sneak onto the property this weekend. I think that the eccentric businessmen should be reason enough to choose Blackberry, boo Steve Jobs. Touch screen is unnecessary, and SUPER frustrating for drunk texting.
i have an iphone even though i know it’s pretty ghey. dude, i’m so pissed that ’s there a new better cheaper version now. steve jobs belongs in hell.
i have a iphone and i think its important to be able to forward, copy and paste. you cant do that with the iphone. there are gliches constantly its pretty frickin nerve racking. go blackberry!
blackberry.
I’m still doing the shitty-comes-with-the-plan-phone deal because there is no way if I get a nice phone it would last.
But if I did it would be blackberry all the way.
The Blackberry Bold!
Comes out this year: http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/rim-blackberry-bold-9000/4505-6452_7-33016450.html?tag=also
blackberry all the way!
the blackberry has the following:
-a camera flash!!!
-video
-removeable battery
-microsd card slot to put in up to 16GB storage… plus this offers unlimited amounts of storage since you can switch out cards
-BUTTONS instead of touchscreen texting
-copy and paste
-blackberry messenger
all of the above the iphone does not have.
i am sure i am leaving stuff out but needless to say- TEAM BLACKBERRY
everyone has problems with the iphones touch screen.
your going to end up being frusterated not being able
to write a text message and that will only lead
to anxiety..black berry
i think blackberrys are awesome but id go with the iphone. i have one and i promise it doesnt suck. you can send/recieve email. it tells you how to get places. the touch screen is real easy to get used to. web browser is amazing. plus it holds all your music/movies/videos. it does glitch once and awhile but its not the end of the world. and i guess they have cheaper ones out now too.
I’m counting down the days til I can finally upgrade to my Blackberry Curve. TEAM BLACKBERRY
p.s. you can download google maps onto the blackberry for free navigation. it shows your location on the map and you can get directions also.
Blackberry Curve. I had a pearl, shit started freaking out after a few months, but the curve is amazing. I dig the iPhone but I rock a Blackberry and have an iTouch… it’s the same as an iPhone but you can’t call or receive texts. The Touch links on wifi and works super well, if you’re wondering about GPS n’stuff Blackberry has it too and they have a crazy new one coming out (but only for at&t) and soon they might have a full touch screen too. I wouldn’t switch services though, I’ve had many and T-mobile is by far the greatest.
PS: I really don’t think I’d be hyped on listening to my phone and then it ringing, keep it separate, keep it flashy!
Good thing I asked you ladies. Seems like Blackberry’s in the lead! I go back and forth but what do I know since I’m still SKickin it. All your comments are SUPER informative to me. Thanks yall~!
Get an iPhone. I’ve had mine since September and I don’t know how I ever lived without it.
They’re user-friendly and the touch-screen is awesome. Blackberries make no sense. Just like PCs.
And you can get your iPhone unlocked and get a bunch super-cool apps for free, ranging from dictionaries to ebooks to an app called iWoman which keeps track of your monthly cycle. Seriously.
And btw, Remy the new 3G iPhone is gonna be released in Canada in July.
BLACKBERRRYYYYY. I love mine, though it is a shitty Pearl and I would really like a Curve or a brick-like BB, this one works and I love it. iPhone is bullsh*t. Don’t go there Rika.
ive had a touchscreen phone now for over a year and i seriously dont think i can go back to buttons. everytime i hold someones regular phone i feel like an idiot, constantly bagging on the screen and shit, confused as to why its not responding to me. on the other hand, blackberrys are pretty nifty. its a huge toss up for me, as im in the market for a new phone as well.
bagging=banging
Oh yeah, and the iPhone is heavier than a Berry. I was suprised when I held my friends and then I had the same reaction as Carrie did in the SATC movie when Sam hands her her iPhone after she can’t get a hold of Big on her wedding day. I can’t deal.
Team BlackBerry!
Listen…the iPhone is the best thing I’ve ever bought…you will be astounded at what it can do…I feel like I figure out new tricks every day!! And if you get a hacker friend to unlock it…psh…lets just say you can even install a vibrator…not that you’d use it or anything…Seriously, though…iPhone all the way, they’re mind-blowingly awesome.
hmmm, i do need a new vibe…metaldelisha, you make a convincing arguement.
blackberry curve for sure. i have the red one and i’m way happy with it. texting’s a bitch on the iphone.
OK I LOVE texting. I’m a text queen. I love being on AIM too. OK so my verdict to this poll is….leaning towards blackberry although the new price for the iphone is wayy cheaper. So I guess I’m still undecided. BUT I’m glad I posted this question cuz it’s always good to get some actual feedback from the phone users. Ima go to the store and check out both phones today.
