Asian Horror Rules!
June 12th, 2008 by SamanthaAre you ready, here goes: Every Sunday night at Midnight you can tune into the Sundance Channel for Asia Extreme and peep a new Asian horror flick…EVERY SUNDAY! I don’t know about you but this get me all excited. I love movies like Audition, Ringu and Tale of Two Sisters. Asian horror is kicking american horrors butt recently…We had it going on in the 80’s but they are taking the 00’s. Were even remaking all their movies. Those creepy asian children with black eyes and wet hair scare the poop outta me. Ya feel me people? Anyone else into Asian Horror?

yes ma’am! my tattoo artist is a huge fan of asian horror so we get together every couple week and peep some of his new finds…audition was defffinitely a trip, but nothing crazy happens for so long you start wondering whether it’ll ever get there…and then it does - so glorious. have you seen the strangers? prime example of american horror going down the shitter. zeero plot, they try and make it seem as if it’s a true story when in reality it’s totally fabricated, and you know that the main characters end up dying from the get go. it appears that once again, japan is just one step ahead of us… exhibit A: http://www.tokyoflash.com/en/
Audition was mind blowing. My dudes and I saw the Ring and then we rented Ringu, but I think the horror was lost on us because we didn’t really like it. Wasn’t the Grudge an adaptation of a Japanese flick? I think my half-Japanese friend owned something like that.
I only saw some of Audition but it seriously caught my eye. I wish I could look insanely calm with perfectly groomed hair as I tortured someone… My girlfriend however is in love with japanese horror movies like Kansen(Infection)and Unholy Women.
itchy the killer… not necessarily horror but still freaky azn flick…
“Audition’s” director, Takashi Miike also directed a short in the horror movie trilogy “Three Extremes” which, is only the best asian horror EVER! It also features shorts from Chan-wook Park who directed “Sympathy for Mr. Vengence”, another must see….and Fruit Chan. The hook was to incorporate 3 horror film directors from the East…one from Korea, one from China and one from Japan. It pretty much rocks.
