    i’m all about helping myself

Upon my therapist’s recommendation, I’m reading, “The Dance of Anger” by Harriet Langer. It’s vintage, but the theme - the healthy expression of female needs without sounding like a bitch or being a doormat, cause neither stance works, i’m learning. I’ve done both, and neither is working for me either, so I’m trying something new. This book seems to make sense. And I’ve had fewer rage blackouts since I started reading it, so that’s a plus!

    ohai punk rock martha stewart!

yeah, i’ve also been reading “it’s not how good you are is how good you want to be” by paul arden, “live what you love” by melinda blanchard, and’ the artist way” by julia cameron. they’re ok. I’ll keep you posted if any of those work.
Oh, and has anyone here ever read “the rules”?if so what did you think?
my friend gave it to me a while ago. i’ve never really paid attention to it and i guess that’s why i keep scaring the hell out of guys?
also not really self help, but apparently mary, alexandra and myself, agree that the alchemist is garbage. the end.

loved the secret. eat pray love is also gooooood and you just read about some lady traveling and learning about herself, so its not preaching directly to you.

  5. BrittneyBlaine Says:

yesssss eat pray love, the power of intention and the last lecture by randy pausch. all worthwhile. all fulfilling. read up bitches

  6. Fletcher Says:

OH OH OH, totally check into this amaze-ass book called, “Mutant Message Down Under” by Marlo Morgan (http://www.amazon.com/Mutant-Message-Under-Tenth-Anniversary/dp/0060723513).

This grandma-type goes on a journalistic (I think if I recall), voyage with this aboriginal tribe down undah and they misinterepret her intentions as, “Hand over all your worldly belongings so we can burn them in this fire over here and then we’re gonna go on a long-ass trek through the scorching desert where you will walk through dry grass blades that feels like walking on shards of glass while insects swarm you in an attempt to “clean you”.

Seriously though, it’s a beautifuls tory with an empowering message. Now I’m gonna go lash myself 40 times for shilling for amazon. GAH!

Totally agree that The Alchemist is a complete BS waste of time!

I know this one was kind of a fad but “It’s Called a Break Up Because it’s Broken” totally saved me when I was going through a monster break up. It has all these little activities that you have to do like make a hate journal. I had to throw mine away after though because I was scared of how much hate there was in it. Maybe I should join Fletcher and read “The Dance of Anger” … Ohai rage black outs.
