My dead cat Kiki

May 14th, 2008 by Sarah Morrison

This was my cat Kiki. She was my best friend. She died. I do not want to talk about it. Ok, fine I will talk about it. I am a vegetarian and her death made me eat KFC one night, specifically the mashed potato bowl. I didn’t really like cats until I met Kiki. She was kinda like a puppy cat. She followed me around. She liked to sit on my shoulder while I cooked or did my makeup. She made this funny noise when she wanted my attention. She always slept right by my head. When she saw my even sort of open my eyes, she would start licking my face to get me up. I have tried to make the move to get another cat a few times. Then I got cold feel at the end, scared I wouldn’t love the cat as much as Kiki. I stayed up all night looking at cats on petfinder. Yeah thats how I party. I found this kitty. He looks exactly like Kiki.

Is it creepy or totally normal that i want a cat that looks like her?

    kiki; you miss her.

and this blog really makes me sad because kiki
    sounds so endearing!

Totally normal! me and my sister had a awesome cat named Tiger, fat cuddly, a crooked tooth that sometimes stuck out of his mouth. He is no longer here either, but every time I see a chubby orange tabby, I look for that crooked tooth

yeah you go thru different phases of this when thinking of getting another cat…my cat tiny passed a few years back and it was very hard to go thru. It got to the point where I’d see cats and kittens and almost be brought to tears of joy. I finally decided that my next cat would never compare to her and to be fair I would get a boy cat instead of a girl and I am soooo in awe of my cat Rufus…It’s been almost a year now.
Wow, looking back at what I just typed makes me sound like a crazy cat lady.
    So be it.

    awwww

I haven’t had a pet pass on me yet… I think I would slip into a deep dark depression if my dog did :(
I probably wouldn’t get another one ever again

I know how you feel. I found my cat De Niro dead on my doorstep when I left for work one day. He was obviously hit by a car, and the person was kind enough to look in his ID and bring him home. The horrid thing was that I thought he was asleep and picked him up, and realized he was a little stiff. I cannot bear to go through that again, so we haven’t entertained the idea of another pet at all.

Oh, that was 5 years ago, and I still cry sometimes… *sniff*

My best friend’s name was Orangey.

He was an orange tabby who was this amazing hybrid of cat/puppy/old man and he would “talk” to me all the time and he was my faithful companion when my (now-ex)…then I had to leave my baby with the ex because, well, it’s a long story that hurts too much to tell…but I never got to see him again after that day that I left him with “Satan”.

It wasn’t until 2 years AFTER I left that I found out 2 months too late that orangey had gotten kidney disease and had to be put down.

I found out on instant messenger, from his sister, on christmas eve.

I’m still not over him. I miss him everyday. And I never thought I could love another cat, and the precious doll I have now could never replace Orangey, but I love him in a different way.

Orangey will always be number one, but I believe that with animals, like with people, you can love again.

i LOVE cats. they’re cool. they like who they like, they’re independent. they do their own thing and i like that.

my cat Nasir died a little over a month ago. he was only a year old, and unfortunately got hit by a car. i learned my lesson with letting cats outside in the city now. i love[d] him dearly, and i still miss him a lot.

my gf and i went to the SPCA not long after [i’m talking days], just to go in the kitten room and play with the cats cuz we missed him [is that weird?] .. we saw this little grey tabby that was very reminiscent of Nasir, and we couldn’t resist. i’ve bonded with kitty 2.0 - Amir - like crazy, but i still miss my old sweetiecat!
